The Trimble R2M system combines shore-based software and on-train equipment to deliver alerts of faults as they occur for effective condition based maintenance. Communicating with the maintenance depots in real time, it allows for efficient fault diagnostics, and work scheduling by the maintenance team. Furthermore, by analyzing irregularities of individual components and their behavior across the entire fleet, it allows maintenance actions to be performed to potentially avoid future failures.

COMPONENT CONDITION MONITORING

Maximize component or asset usage by keeping it in service longer whilst closely monitoring its condition

Time-based maintenance—where components are maintained based on time and distance traveled, regardless of component condition—can result in significant inefficiencies in the maintenance process with both over or under maintenance of key components. 

Using the Trimble C2M system and sensor technology, operators can closely monitor the condition of components and assets over time, monitoring for signs of deterioration or failure and planning maintenance accordingly.

The Trimble C2M system combines trackside and handheld measuring devices with software analytics to proactively monitor wheels, brakes, pantographs, and other key components for wear and defects. By detecting and analyzing anomalies, it provides predictive advice of maintenance requirements and automates maintenance planning.

In-service performance planning and management systems utilize timetable, actual vehicle location, and real-time diagnostic information to identify the root cause of delays and to plan journeys for optimum timetable adherence.

Through a combination of journey planning and improved driver awareness, the Trimble P2M in-service performance planning and management system maximizes energy and fuel efficiency and help to manage driver behavior.

On-board cab advisory systems keep a driver informed about a trains performance and adherence to timetables by linking to real-time diagnostic and timetable information.

The Trimble CAS Cab Advisory system is a mobile-platform solution that allows the driver to visualize information on safety or performance restrictions as well as running conditions and fuel usage. Facilitating improved driver behavior and improved timetable conformance, cab advisory solutions reduce environmental impact by optimizing fuel usage.
