Condition Monitoring

Nexala Spectrum provides remote, real time condition monitoring, fault diagnostics and performance analysis for train fleets. Spectrum monitors key components across the fleet, in real-time, enabling maintainers to monitor and manage how each component on each train is performing and to identify potential problems and take corrective action before the component fails.

Key Features:

  • Spectrum monitors the condition of fleet assets and components and identifies potential problems before they cause service disruption. Spectrum takes data feeds directly and in real time (every 4-5 seconds) from the OTMR and any sensors fitted to various components on the vehicle, including:
    • HVAC
    • Doors
    • Brakes
    • Propulsion and electrical
    • Temperature
    • Pressure systems
  • Spectrum receives data wirelessly via 3G, GPRS and Wi-Fi.
  • Spectrum processes large quantities of data, filters out the mundane and builds a profile on the condition of components being monitored. Spectrum identifies those components which appear to be close to failure so that maintenance or repair can be carried out when the vehicle is in the depot and a failure in-service is avoided.
  • In the case of an in-service defect, Spectrum immediately informs the control room with all the supporting information to help fix the problem as soon as possible with the view to keeping the vehicle in service.

Benefits:

  • Increased fleet availability.
  • Reduced in-service delays.
  • Pre-empt component failures.
  • Reduced time for fault repair.
  • Reduced maintenance costs.
