Dr. Karl O'Connell
Chief Executive Officer
Karl is responsible for Nexala's operations and strategic development. Prior to founding Nexala, Karl was Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development with Norkom Technologies, a leading European Fraud Detection and Risk Management vendor. Prior to this Karl was a senior manager and Chief Architect at Misys Banking Systems (Misys PLC) responsible for product architecture and their technical services division. Previous to Misys, Karl was Chief Executive of a technology services company specialising in real-time mission critial applications.

Karl holds a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin, a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science, and postgraduate Diplomas in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and New Business Development from the Dublin Institute of Technology. Karl was also awarded the lead entrepreneur in the 2003 PDC Hothouse program.

John O'Sullivan
Chief Finance Officer
John provides Financial and Legal advisory support to Nexala. John has worked as CFO for a number of technology companies with operations in Ireland, UK, mainland Europe and the Middle East. He has also worked in Mergers and acquisitions with a variety of technology and related growth industries in Europe. In addition, he has operated in senior financial positions for a number of companies including KPMG and Digital Equipment Corporation where he held senior positions in the Legal Tax and Treasury department.

John graduated from University College Cork with Bachelors of Commerce degree (B.Comm) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA).

Dr. Marcus O'Connell
CTO & Technical Director
Marcus is an experienced executive responsible for Nexalaís product development and implementation. As Technical Director, Marcus is also responsible for the strategic direction of Nexalaís products and the organisationís Research and Development activities. Prior to joining Nexala, Marcus was co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Jeecom Inc., a leading Japanese wireless software company, where he was responsible for product development and technical strategy. Prior to Jeecom, Marcus was Managing Director of a technical consulting company, specialising in accounting and ERP solutions for SMEs. He has also worked for leading technology companies including Baltimore Technologies, Ebeon and CSD Inc.

Marcus holds a first class Bachelor of Computer and Microelectronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, both from Trinity College Dublin. Marcus has also published numerous articles and technical papers in the fields of service management, planning and optimisation.

Paul Lowry
Vice President Business Development
Paul is responsible for Nexalaís Business Development and Marketing functions. Paul is a senior executive with extensive Business & Technical Development experience having worked for companies such as IONA Technologies (NASDAQ:- IONA) and Norkom Technologies. Paul has been instrumental in developing market share, market positioning and sales growth for these organisations. Paul was responsible in Iona Technologies for generating new sales and building up the UK and US markets. In Norkom Technologies, Paul was a key catalyst in ensuring Norkom's global rapid go-to-market initiatives. Paul was responsible for the direct and indirect sales efforts in the UK and then initiated Norkomís US sales operations.

Paul is a computer science graduate from Trinity College Dublin.

Liam Brennan
Commercial Director
Liam is responsible for Nexala's pre and post sales functions including customer service and the commercial aspects of Nexala's account management program. Liam is a senior executive who has held a number of senior roles in International Financial Services and IT organisations. Liam and has extensive experience building sales and strategic alliances operations. Prior to Nexala, Liam was founder and CEO of Employers Alliance, an Internet resourcing and technology organisation.

Prior to Employer's Alliance, he was Head of Customer Services with Accuris, a leading European telecommunications software provider. Prior to that, Liam held a number of roles with Allfinanz including Head of Customer Services, Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Head of Operations. Allfinanz is a financial services software company operating in the UK, European and US markets. Liam has also held senior roles for Irish Life and Permanent.

Liam has a BSc (School of Electronic and Communications Engineering) and a postgraduate Diploma in New Business Development both from the Dublin Institute of Technology. He is a certified member of the British Computer Society.

Shane Lillis
Services Director
Shane is responsible for Nexala's professional services division. Shane is a senior IT professional with vast experience in the area of business intelligence architectures, asset management and scenario planning within Financial Services, Utilities, Manufacturing & Transport sectors. With over 13 years experience, this business and technical experience has been accumulated from extensive exposure to international clients, information & development environments and array of software and change management implementations. Formerly Shane was a senior implementation manager with Norkom Technologies a leading Analytical Solutions provider

Shane holds a Masters Degree (M.Eng.Sc) in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), University College Galway and a B.E Degree in Industrial Engineering & Information Systems, University College Galway.
